TEESSIDE BUCKET LIST

Now, in fairness, unless there was a reason you were visiting Teesside, it’s not exactly the place where you’d book a break away to explore. It’s not up there with places to visit in England like London, Manchester or York so it wouldn’t be top or even feature on anyone’s priority lists. However, Teesside does have it’s own unique charm. I was born and bred in Teesside so I love it as my home but I’ve also got to experience it’s beauty and also it’s growth over the years. If you are in the area, there are some really nice places so this bucket list is great guide of things to do while you’re here.

LUNCH ON BEDFORD STREET

Bedford Street was left pretty much empty until last Summer when the street re-emerged as THE place to eat. It’s the newest, hippest place in Middlesbrough with the nicest cafes and restaurants. There’s a lot of variety with something to suit everyone. A cake shop, a Mexican, a pizza bar and a cafe amongst others, you’ll definitely be happy in choice of Baker Street. If you’re not around during the day, pop back at night for a beautiful cocktail from The Nuthatch.

ROSEBERRY TOPPING

A beautiful Summer or Autumn walk up to the summit with breathtaking views over Teesside from the top. Either take the winding woodland walk for a bit of scenery or trek straight to the top for an intense workout.

OH I DO LIKE TO BE BESIDE THE SEASIDE

The big towns of Teesside are only a ten minute drive from the nearest beaches. Play in the arcades, munch on some fish & chips and grab a lemon top for a glorious British seaside day. In Redcar, you can take a walk up the vertical pier whilst in Saltburn, you can take the tram down the cliff.

SECRET BAR

Alchemy & Co is a gorgeous little bar reminiscent of a 1920’s speakeasy and some delicious cocktails. Small place but a great atmosphere and you can read about one of my experiences here.

TRY A PARMO

A Teesside speciality you won’t find anywhere else in the country. Breaded chicken or pork ( chicken is better) with bechamel sauce and cheese, parmo’s are the takeaway of choice in Teesside. For the best, head to Manjaro’s or Fellini’s who both serve up delicious versions.

WOODLAND WALKS

Guisborough Woods, Flatts Lane Country Park, Ormesby Woods, Stewart Park… the list of stunning woodland walks is long in Teesside so grab a four-legged friend and go for a stroll.

COFFEE AND CAKE

Teesside has lots of coffee shops that whip up delicious cupcakes and other delicious treats. The Olde Young Tea House, Songbird Bakery, Chilli Cake and Linthorpe Tea Rooms are among my faves.
